Virtual Private Servers
Putting up a website is one thing, but what if your needs go beyond what you can do on a shared server? Our virtual servers allow you all the benefits of having your own box with none of the headaches. Each server is a full virtual machine, complete with its own hardware and a convenient remote access interface. Only the CPU is directly accessed by the virtual machine, which gives the ultimate in flexibility without sacrificing performance. We can install any operating system that runs on standard PC hardware, and we provide 24/7 monitoring and traffic graphs for all of our virtual servers.

Reliability and trust
Your web site can dramatically increase your sales -- but only if it's up when a potential customer looks for it. Our hosting servers are housed in a modern datacenter with redundant cooling, power, and connectivity.

Security
You want sales from your web sites, but you also want your customers' information to be kept private. We take security seriously. We constantly monitor our web servers for illicit traffic and security weaknesses. Protecting confidential information is important to us. As part of this commitment, we are an authorized reseller of SSL certificates to secure your web site, including the new Extended Validation (green bar) certificates.

Isn't a virtual server less capable than a physical box?
Not really. While it's true that virtual hosting imposes a small overhead on CPU operations and a larger one on I/O, the reality is that web applications rarely utilize more than a tiny fraction of any modern server's capabilities. The rest is just generating waste heat. We know -- we had our own data center packed with wall-to-wall servers, and loads were so predictably low that anytime we saw anything like heavy usage, we knew that something was wrong (typically a bot storm hitting one or more of the mail servers). In fact, even today, with two or three virtual servers sharing each cpu (or core), resource utilization averages between 10-20% including the virtualization overhead.
It all sounds complicated. I'm not sure I really want to learn a new technology just to get a server.
You don't have to. While you can download the VMware console at any time to have direct remote access to the virtual machine, you don't need to use it. There is a simple web management interface for basic functions such as resetting or power-cycling your virtual machine, or you can simple login via remote shell just as if it were a physical server. The operating system can't tell the difference, and unless you look very closely at the installed hardware, you won't be able to tell either.
Well what about reliability? Isn't virtualization more complex, and therefore more prone to failure?
Yes, but only when you consider the host server and all of its guests together. The advantage to virtual hosting is that you don't need to do that. The physical host server is responsible for running several virtual machines. Each virtual machine runs your operating system and applications. Because each VM is just a collection of files, they can be moved, duplicated, and otherwise manipulated in ways that would be impossible (or at least extremely expensive) for physical servers. The end result is that any given VM is actually far more resilient than a "real" server would be.
